A new update for HP’s iStream iPhone application has been released. This update comes with a very nice performance improvement and some known bug fixes. The following blurb lists all of the new changes listed on the iTunes App Store.
Performance improvements:
A more responsive user interface when starting large videos, improved music streaming, and faster browsing through the lists of items on the server.
New languages:
- Spanish
- Japanese
Music + Videos + Photos:
- Search: Search for an item by name within any list under Music, Videos or Photos. Click the search button (magnifying glass in the lower left area) and type the characters contained in the item you’re looking for.
Photos:
Send up photos via email.
- Instructions: Under Photos, go to a list view or view an individual photo. Then click on the action button (circle with arrow) on the lower left. Select the action sheet menu item “Send Photo”.
- Limitations: up to 5 photo attachments per email; the size of the photo attachments has to be less than 9 MB. The attached photos will be resized to 1024 pixel for the longest side if they are bigger than that.
- Requirements: Email account needs to be setup on the device.
Music:
- Cover flow mode when viewing a list of albums or playing a song; to activate turn device into landscape mode.
Videos:
- Video playback issues with iPhone OS 3.0 or higher were fixed; video playback performance has been improved.
- Video playback is not allowed when connected via cellular networks to reduce bandwidth requirements; Video playback over Wi-Fi is still allowed.
- Videos are filtered to show only videos converted with mq[2] or Mobile[3] Video Converter profile.
[2] = if connected to a HP MediaSmart Servers running software version 2.5
[3] = if connected to a HP MediaSmart Servers running software version 3.0

I for one am reluctant to upgrade to this version, despite the improvements. I really enjoy the streaming over 3G capabilities. Sure it is slow, but if you want to watch a movie on the run, it does the trick. I am curious to know how other people feel about this trade off.
If I am reading this correctly it means that HP has disabled video playback even when on a 3G network?
That is my understanding. It is really the sole reason I use the application so losing the 3G streaming is a big deal to me.
I agree with forester. I don't consider losing 3G streaming to be an upgrade. This is probably because of pressure from AT&T due to their overtaxed network that they are reluctant to upgrade because it means that the fat paychecks they have been raking in from the iphone will have to be sacrificed.
OMG I cant believe HP removed video streaming. How can I install the old APP? I updated mine and now I cannot play any mp4 over WIFI and NO videos over 3g
This would be great to have if we were all running the 2.5+! ! ! when is HP going to release it all ready to all the 470 users ?

@Dirk check in the bin, iTunes when it updates an app throws the old one in the bin.
I do agree its stupid disabling video over 3G you are paying for the data, cell companies should be rubbing their hands seeing that more data is being used and that they will be getting more money. When I updated it, the video streaming failed on wifi so I uninstalled it and reinstalled the old app. Search and sending photos via email and cover flow is not that great to lose out on video streaming.
