A new preview version AutoExit add-in for Windows Home Server Vail has been released by ASoft. The add-in is for power management, allowing the user to shutdown, awake up, and reboot client PCs on the network from the Windows Home Server dashboard. AutoExit also can send messages to client PCs across the network, view and edit MAC addresses and allows remote desktop connections. AutoExit 2010 Beta 1 is available now from Asoft.be.
However, the following are known issues with the Beta:
- Problems with WOL (address is sometimes wrong and it can’t be saved)
- The client installer has to be installed separately like in WHSv1.
- Not everything is translated.
- The add-in package contains two files, an add-in for the server and an application for client PCs. Whilst the client application has to be installed manually in the beta release, it will automatically be pushed to clients during the server installation in the final version.
