Now, at Windows Phone 7 Marketplace you can find yet another add-in, WHS Phone, an add-in which allows you to manage Windows Home Server via a Windows Phone 7 handset.
The add-in enables file browsing, music streaming and photo viewing and allow access to certain management functions on the home server.

Great program I wish it worked on the iPhone. I also wish Brent friedman would update whs mobile. http://twitter.com/brentfriedman
I think there is an iPhone app for the WHS. There is one made by HP which only works with the HP MediaSmart Server series and then there is a generic iPhone app for the home server. I forgot the name, a green logo or something.
Installed, it works and has a good feature set. But it is pretty slow to navigate about and gives an error on startup (although it works).
TBH I’m pretty cross Microsoft didnt integrate WHS into Windows Phone 7 better. I did make a comment on Connect and was told it was being worked on in Vail.
It things like this Apple do well (integrate platforms) Microsoft need to get WHS, Windows Phone, XBox, Skydrive and Windows 7 working better together.
I want streaming from Vail to WP7, Remote recording from WP7 to Media center, remote access on Windows 7 Home Premium if I have WHS and XBox messaging without a Gold subscription if I have WP7. Plus a million other ideas.
Seriously do they have anybody in charge of product integration?
I wanted this phone so that I could *possibly* integrate with my WHS and Win7 boxes, and when I saw this app coming I *thought* that day was coming. Then I realized that this “app” should have been integrated into the phone ALREADY. I mean seriously…the phone incorporates FACEBOOK, but not WHS controls? What about tapping a Win7 box you own with a TV tuner and stream live TV to the thing?
I could get a slingbox, attach it to a Time Warner set top box and change channels from China on an iPhone or iPad. I can already use a Win7 box with Orb (without media center running) and stream live TV or my media collection to my iPhone or iPad for just a few bucks. THIS is what Microsoft needs to be thinking, and they just don’t get it. They need to create a phone that will completely blow away what’s out there and REALLY do everything. Until then, I’m not even going to think about a Microsoft mobile device. Steve Ballmer is a moron.
