Giveaway: WinX DVD Ripper Software

By: Chuck Shumar|January 31, 201149 Comments

winx-dvd-blog

Recently Home Server Land did a review of WinX DVD Ripper Premium.  The WinX DVD Ripper product permits the user to make backup copies of DVD video to hard disk.  We were impressed with how easy and fast it was to create backup file copies of our favorite DVD movie titles, and with the outstanding clarity of video and audio that rivals that of the original DVD content.

Home Server Land has received 40 copies of WinX DVD Ripper Premium for Windows and 5 copies of WinX DVD Ripper for Mac.  We want to give these copies away to our loyal members to help them build digital copies of their personal DVD library on their Windows Home Server, Network Attached Storage device, Media Storage server, etc.

The rules for this giveaway are simple.

  1. You must be a registered user of Home Server Land;
  2. Post a response to this blog and describe how you want to use WinX DVD Ripper to make backup copies of your personal DVD library to augment your multimedia movie titles;
  3. Your response should briefly describe your multimedia environment;
  4. Identify the version, either Windows or Mac, of the software you want;
  5. Provide your email so that we can deliver to you the registration key and instructions for downloading the software; and
  6. This giveaway ends when all copies of WinX DVD Ripper have been awarded.

Our giveaway promotion does not end here.  All winners and existing users of WinX DVD Ripper can win an iTunes gift card from Digiarty, developers of WinX DVD Ripper.  After you have used the product, leave comments on Digiarty’s Facebook fan page.  The posters of 50 of the most valuable reviews will be sent an iTunes gift card by Digiarty..

I currently have over 125 DVD’s plus more than 10 Series shows spanning multiple seasons. I currently do not have a HTPC, but am running WHS v1 that currently has 2.4 TB of free space. I want to fill it up!! I would use WinX DVD Ripper to backup my extensive collection and enable me to play them through my entire home network while freeing up shelf space in the family room, making my wife VERY happy. I would require the Windows version.

    • Bujar February 3, 2011

I would like to use WinX DVD Ripper for backing up all my DVD’s. I have over 100 DVD’s at home and it’s quite messy having all of the in the house, so I would like to back them up in my server WHS v2 and clear all of the DVD’s out of my living room. I would require a Windows version.

      Thanks
      Bujar

  • Mike Gilman February 1, 2011

I would use this to back up my 120 DVDs to my home server allowing me to watch my movies on any of my home PCs and on either of my HTPCs. I prefer using my HTPCs because I have my surround sound tied into the TV and can fully enjoy content that way. I recently added a 2TB drive to my WHS so this will give me somthing to do with all that extra free space I have now.

I use all Windows based systems in my home so I would prefer the Windows version.

    Thanks!

    Mike

I came into the digital age a few years ago. My house is completely wired (aka: wireless) for media. I am making the slow transition from discs to electronic. At this point I have about 650 movies transferred from disc and about another 300 to go! This would be an amazing help in the project.

This is all Windows 7 based with WHS as the server.

  • Willad Hamilton February 1, 2011

I would use to copy all of my DVDs which I purchase mainly for my Daughter and Grandchildren with 6 kids she needs lots of entertainment for them when they are inside and they enjoy family movie nights. This way I could stream the movies and still maintain a copy in case of any problems. I back up their PC’s and laptops as my daughter is a Photographer and has GBs of picture, so I installed 4 1.5GB drives to have plenty of space for their Stuff.

  • Paul Higgins February 1, 2011

I’m a bit late to the game. My home server is a old repurposed Dell Dimension desktop, running WHS v1 with 450 Gb. I’m just now getting around to ripping all my CDs to the server, now that I found the Tivo Publisher add-in and can share music in a way that’s easy to describe to others.

Being able to do the same thing with our small collection of DVDs would be nice and would save us some room. We just moved and still haven’t figured out how to store our CDs and DVDs near our TV. With this software, I wouldn’t have to! It would also be great to be able to put DVDs on my iPad for travel. I’m running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) so I’d like the Windows version.

  • Mike Mead February 1, 2011

I would like to have a simple and easy to use product that would allow me to load all of my DVD’s to my home server to view with a computer or on my TV with Boxee Box.
    Thanks Mike

  • Ninia February 1, 2011

    hello, what a great offer.
i run my homeserver for all data types at home and i use it especially for my windows media center
    in my living room.
I store my whole amount of pictures music and video on it.
This software will be great to store my dvd collections as well on my server, so i don`t need to put in
    any dvd`s.
PS: I use mediabrowser plugin in my windows mce for my collection.

    Thanks

    • Ninia February 1, 2011

Back again, sorry i forgot to mention my environment.
I use a WHS (self built) with 3.5 TB Disk Space
My MediaCenter PC runs with Windows7 ultimate 64Bit.

      Thanks

  • SteveM February 1, 2011

I would really like a copy of WinX DVD Ripper so that I could make backup copies of my entire DVD library , which now consists of approximately 150 DVDs that my wife and I have purchased over the past 10 years. I have a Windows Homer Server using windows 7 ultimate (64 bit). I would like to rip the vidoes for my personal use, load them onto the sever, and then stream them to my Samsung TV. Thank you very much and great work with the website! SteveM

  • Dave Marchant February 1, 2011

WinXDVD Ripper would make the transfer of my DVD’s onto the server so much easier. I am having to use so many different tools at the moment, progress is slow. The Windows version would be the one for me as I have no Mac gear.
Once on my Home Server, I could play them back on my various media players – an Xtreamer, an Iomega ScreenPlay HD Pro, my XBox and the various Win 7 PC’s with Media Centre.

  • Bodog February 1, 2011

I have not ripped one of my DVD’s to my WHS and really want to do that – but til now it’s been “too hard”. I’ve got lots of DVD’s that are not from my home region I need to save before my old DVD player expires on me. along with another 50 or so that are from my favourite TV series.
Let me be one of the lucky ones and my backup burning will commence furiously so I can have “on demand” access to my DVD’s at my fingertips. I’ve got XBOX 360 Media Extenders and 2 Win7 Ultimate Media Centers with all my data stored on my WHS
If I’m lucky enough to be a winner I need a copy of the Windows version of WinX DVD Ripper

  • msass February 1, 2011

I’ve tried a trial version of this product, and was very impressed about the many different type of file types you can rip a movie to. It looks like it’s one of the best programs for ripping and converting movies. It works very fast, in trial version time limit is on,and the result is very impressive. If I get a free version of this product, all of my movies will go to my WHS with the speed of light.

  • msass February 1, 2011

I forgot to say that I’m using Win7 Ultimate 64 bit,and WinX DVD Ripper works like a charm

  • Pesch-WHS February 1, 2011

I would use to backup my 300 DVDs on my home server. My living room already tormented on DVD case and I need space. :)

  • Tuxster February 1, 2011

I would use it to backup my DVDs on my HP Windows Home Server. That way my daughter can play them on our big screen TV using XBMC on Apple TV (or on the laptop via Windows Media Center) without giving me a heart-attack every time she pulls them out of their cases and throws them in the DVD player while eating cheese puffs at the same time!

  • Tuxster February 1, 2011

It might be obvious from my previous post, but I forgot to specify it: I would like a Windows version of WinX DVD Ripper Software.

  • Matt McCollum February 2, 2011

I would like to backup my 350+ disk collection to my WHS. I have a new set up in the den with a new 55″ Samsung 3DTV. If I’m the winner, I would like to have the Windows version.

  • Shawn McGilvary February 2, 2011

I would like to use my HP laptop and Gateway desktop to back up my DVD collection to my homebrew WHS and so I can stream my movies to the PS3. It was a used PS3 with overheating problems that I fixed, connected to a SD 32″ JVC TV. Some day I hope to upgrade to a LED/LCD. I would like a windos version if I’m the Winner… Thanks for the great site, I use it to look for WHS news and add-ins.

  • Bodog February 2, 2011

    Like an expectant child….

Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Do we know who the winners are yet? ;-)

  • Denis S. (user: smeredj) February 2, 2011

I shure could use use WinX DVD Ripper to make backup copies of our 300+ DVD library.
We have a Acer Aspire 340 home server with 4TB storage connected to 2 pcs (xp and Vista Media Centre),
1 laptop – Windows 7, an Asus HDP-1 media extender and a Sanyo PLZ-4 projector in our basement home theatre.

I have experimented with loading some DVDs onto our server, but have had limited success and burned a lot of hours. It would be interesting to see how well this product works.

I would like the windows version if I am selected for a copy.

  • Pete February 3, 2011

If it’s free, I can’t pass it up. I can’t help myself. Although it might be useful backing up several hundred DVD that I happen to have and worry about, now and again.
I’ve got an HTPC with an ASRock mobo w/builtin HD graphics, AMD phenom CPU, 4gbytes memory, terrabyte of data, a Hauppauge 2250 OTA dual-signal TV tuner. It runs Win7 64bit and Windows Media Center. It’s connected to a 42″ Vizio LCD television, via HDMI, a Bose 3-2-1 entertainment system via optical cable for video and audio respectively.

  • Chris February 3, 2011

    I could definitely use this!!!
I’ve got a 3 computer network (2 Desktops + 1 Laptop all running Win7 and connected via homegroup) and then our Home Built server that currently has 5TB+ of storage space in it waiting for exactly this functionality! I’ll be building a HTPC in the next 60 to 90 days to connect to our 1080p Panasonic Plasma and if I had this, would be able to convince my wife to put an extender in our bedroom and get more storage for the server.

I’ve tried a couple of solutions to load DVD’s onto the Home Server that so far haven’t been that successful and have wasted a lot of time and hours.

  • Martin February 3, 2011

Having recently added a an Acer WHSv1 box to my home network, I am looking to make use of it to host a huge collection of DVDs I have that are cluttering up the living room. I will be looking to rip these into a format (prob basic MPEG2) to stream to my PS3/ HD 48″ TV. Will be interested to know if WinX will retain both a stereo and full 5:1 surround audio stream,

    • Martin February 3, 2011

… sorry … meant to say I’m running win 7 clients … so a windows version of WinX please :-)

  • Bujar February 4, 2011

  • Russell Smith February 6, 2011

I already own the software and find it by far the best ripping software I’ve tried. ( belive me I’ve tried heaps)
I’m current running a 38 TB windows homeserver V.1 ( hehe cooling it is its biggest problem) It has heaps of addons also. Over 300 DvDs backed up on it already I can’t say I need the software but I can say that, If any one is thinking about purchasing it, Think no further you won’t find better , of that I’m sure :-) .
BTW I purchased the WinX converter also, all I can say is awesome guys awesome :-)

    Digiarty Great job guys
    Thanks
    Russell

    Mike Mead

  • Bodog WGS February 6, 2011

Thanks so much for my copy of WinX DVD Ripper Premium – it’s installed and working great. It is so easy I can use it without needing my teenager to interpret how it works.
I’m going to be busy over the coming weeks ripping all my DVD’s to my WHS
Thanks to Home Server Land for running this competition and to Digiarty for their generous donation of the prizes

  • Shawn McGilvary February 7, 2011

Thank you for picking me as well,

I also have not received an email yet… And I checked my unk mail folder just in case…

    Thanks,
    Shawn

  • Prime February 7, 2011

I have kids, so backups of my collection are vital. Kids destroy things! I currently use an HP MediaSmart 485 series for all of my storage needs. Mac or Windows copy would be great, as we are dual-mode household.

  • Chuck Shumar February 7, 2011

I have resent the announcements to Shawn McGilvary and Dave Marchant. If you do not receive an email, check the email address you used in your profile to ensure it is the correct address.

Congratulations to Prime and Russell Smith. I have sent keys for both versions to Prime and the key for the Windows version to Russell Smith.

@Russell, I would be interested in how you manage your 38 TBs on your home server. Do you back up all data or exclude the Videos? What plans do you have for WHS 2011 such as are you planning on using RAID?

    • Paul Higgins February 11, 2011

I didn’t get my e-mail and I just confirmed that I have a valid e-mail address in my profile. (It ends in .name which throws some people off but it is valid.) I can supply an alternate address if necessary.

    • Dave Marchant February 11, 2011

I have been through my profile and re-checked everything. Still no email though.

  • Brian Paxton (SeaPeaEh) February 8, 2011

I would love a copy of WinX DVD Ripper. I’m not sure how many DVDs I have, but the number is constantly growing. Somehow my son continues to get into the cabinet and open all the DVD cases, spreading the discs all over the floor. Many of kid’s DVD are scratched up, so it would be great to have a backup of those, so I don’t have to go out and buy new copies.

  • frostythecat February 9, 2011

    I would love a copy of WinX Dvd Ripper.I have 752 dvd’s and would like to rip some dvd’s to my server.Its a home built server using a recycled P4 3.0 with 2 x 1.5TB + 80gig system drive.
Just purchased a LG Bluray 5.1 surround sound system with a network port so it would be good to stream movies to my tv when my grandkids are with me.
Windows version if i’m a lucky poster
    Cheers

  • Chuck Shumar February 10, 2011

Congradulations to rschoderbek, frostythecat, and Brian Paxton as our most recent winners of WinX DVD Ripper Premium.

We only have 8 more copies of the Windows version and 4 copies of the Mac version left. Hurry to get your request in before they are gone.

    • Dave Marchant February 16, 2011

Still nothing come through on email. Is there another way we can do this?

  • Alex February 14, 2011

    Hi,
Interesting product for sure! I am currently running WHS on a Tranquil PC SQA-5H and using this for back-ups. I would like to use the Media capabilities of this, along with an Xtreamer I have (plus more streaming devices on the shopping list!) to run the WHS box as a Media server for DVDs and CDs.
The idea is to have every PC and TV the house fully multimedia connected and negate the need to go reaching for the dust collecting DVD collection! Running various versions of Windows (mainly 7), so a Windows version is best for me! Also running a couple of Linux boxes, so would be very interested if I can get the WHS with WinX to work with Linux…
    Thanks. :-)

  • Mike Gilman March 19, 2011

I never did come back and say thank – sorry for that. I have used this quite a few times since I got it and love it. I am having a problem now though, I had to uninstall it not too long ago but now when I try to reinstall it the software says that the key is not valid. Any help would be great! Thanks!

    Mike

  • JohnnyGB April 30, 2011

    Hi,

I just found your website. It is very helpful, so I joined.

I have implemented a home network because I now have 5 computer users in the house and various gadgets and OSes (Windows 7 & XP, Apple, Linux). Your website and reviews are very helpful even though I’m still trying out different networking software on my server box.

I have about 200 movies for my kids and have already had to get some of them repaired due to the typical behaviour of kids (leaving them out, mishandling them, putting things on them, dropping them, spilling on them, etc.). I’ve already put their Wii games on a harddrive to preserve the originals, and would like to do the same for all their movies.

The added bonus to putting the Wii games on a harddrive has been the ease of access, and the software layouts for selecting them. I anticipate that the same will be true for movies saved on harddrive (especially given how kids will rewatch a movie 70 million times). With my network, I look forward to accessing the movies at different locations in my house from the harddrive.

I look forward to receiving a copy of WinX DVD Ripper Software. I’ll let you know what I think of it.

    Thanks.

    John I.

I am actually new to the home server world. I recently installed a home built server using WHS 2011. I have over 200 dvd’s along with many HBO and Showtime series. I want to use the server to stream my movies to 3 pc’s, 2 Sony Internet Blu Ray players. As I am new to using a home server it sounds like this software would handle my simple need.

  • greg ess May 31, 2011

I am a windows Home Server User — running a HP Homeserver 495 on HomeServer PowerPack3 with 4TB of disk installed.

I’m a solutions architect for HP with the originally wired (unwired?) home, and would love to be able to back up my DVDs to Homeserver storage to make them available to other entertainment systems in my house.

  • mike_nl July 1, 2011

Hello Alexander and Chuck, i am back after a longer time of working hard and without any rest. Now i read this here and when i look to my DVD library i get a big smile on my face. Specially the DVD for the childs. And that are a lot of DVD’s. Thomas the tank engine, Shaun the Cheep, Fireman Sam, Augsburger Puppenkiste (Jim Knopf and Lukas, ..). Pippi Langstrumpf, Heidi, ahh and a lot more. Yes i can use some other stuff but that is illegal and not OK. Since my WHS V1 has no ripper software, i was searching for something like this. Greetings from the Netherlands ;-)

  • Mike July 17, 2011

Hello I am a windows user and have a hp 485 server and have 200 dvd’s and two kids and want to be able to play and backup these dvd’s to the server since the kids have broke a few of there dvd’s and then have to go and buy them all over. if they were backed up on the server i could just play them from the server to the TV . would love to try this out to see how this would work.
    THANKS
