Add-in Update: WHS Outlook, WHS Quicken, WHS QuickBooks

Add-in Update: WHS Outlook, WHS Quicken, WHS QuickBooks

The Office Maven has announced an add-in update for his entire Windows Home Server line of products to address the issue that arose from the Microsoft Windows Home Server Update Rollup 2 (KB981089).

Last week we reported on the WHS Update Rollup 2 breaking the Remote Desktop Web Access features in WHS Outlook Web Access, WHS Quicken Web Access, and WHS QuickBooks Web Access. Since then Mike Craven has sprung into action and released updated versions of his add-ins to address these issues.

Instructions

If UR2 is installed onto your WHS after installing the latest version of any of my add-ins, then you’ll need to go into the add-in’s Settings tab of the WHS Console and click on the “Configure” button in order to switch on the UR2 compatibility (or you could do an uninstall/install as well but that’s a bit of a pain).

The add-in’s installer will check for the existence of the UR2 update on your WHS during the installation process and automatically switch on the UR2 compatibility for you. However, if you happen to install UR2 after you’ve already installed the latest version of the add-in, then you simply need to manually enable the UR2 compatibility by clicking on the “Configure” button in the add-in’s Settings tab of the WHS Console.

Basically, if you’re not able to use the web access feature of my add-ins (and you are sure that you have the latest version of the add-ins installed), then a simple click on the “Configure” button in Settings will enable UR2 compatibility. After that, the web access feature should work just fine for you.

Hope that makes sense.
– MIKE
