A quick but equally important announcement from HP, they are releasing their HP ProLiant MicroServer with Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials.

According to our sources at HP, at launch the SBS Essentials will be a configuration option offered by reseller partners and a RAM upgrade would be required to at least 2GB to meet the minimum requirements for the OS.
Currently, the MicroServer supports the following Windows platforms:
- Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation / Standard / Enterprise
- Windows Small Business Server 2008 Premium
However, the company plans to put be configuring the server with the new OS later themselves later in the year. Stay tuned for our hands-on HP ProLiant MicroServer review later this week.

Any word on when this is happening?
I LOVE that HP is focusing an small form factor servers.
I kind of wish they would look beyond Microsoft and consider one of the small linux servers, such as Ubuntu Serve or CentOS. More bang for the buck… and no virus issues.
