Just installed Grid Junction on my HP EX495 WHS Server and noticed an Expiration Date.

  • Wow.... Talk about a smooth install.  I downloaded Grid Junction and put it in my Add-Ins Folder and then I went and installed it.  Worked like a charm.  Then I plugged in my USB Cable between my CyberPowerSystems CP10000AVRLCD UPS and when I went into the Console, everything showed up and was giving me all the cool information I needed.

As I checked the individual Tabs on this Add-In, I noticed that on the About Tab, it says: "This release version expires: April 29, 2009".

Well, today is January 9, 2010 and I think I'm expired......

I am running Version 1.4.0.0 RC

Can you please advise what this means?  Also, is there a Cost associated with this GREAT Piece of Software?  I haven't found anywhere to purchase, so not sure if I am suppose to pay for it or not....  If so, please let me know where I send the money.  It will be the best $$$ I've spent since I acquired my WHS.

    Thank You.

  • Thank you PogoGuy for your feedback, 1.4.0.0 RC will not expire, if I remember correctly, this is for support of the addin,  Alexander (who created this great app) is currently at CES and he may be able to tell you and others when the next RC of Grid Junction will be.

I am sure that currently Kentdome will not charge for there add-ins however in the future this may change (like what Light Out did with Green)/

  • Happy to hear it. Kurt is correct: it's only text and no functionality is impaired as a result.

Originally we had planned to release a newer version of Grid Junction way before April 2009 but time has not been on our side, fortunately Grid Junction 1.4 has been pretty solid -- that said we have newer bits in the works and hopefully we will have an updated version available soon.

Sorry about the expiration day eyesore.

  • Thanks for the Great Responses.  The Expiration Day is no big deal now that I know it's just text on screen and no functionality impaired.  Hopefully in the next release, you have a Testing Tab to be able to Test the UPS Functionality as several others have expressed as important.  I have everything working, and I won't know if it's solid or not until I get to be the unfortunate victum of a Power Outage but hopefully everything will work as expected.  Thanks for the GREAT Piece of Software.
