UPS not recognized

UPS not recognized

This question is answered
  • Hi,

I discovered this website a few days ago, got my password and found Grid Junction.  I installed it and after unplugging and re-plugging the UPS (Back UPS RS 1200) Grid Junction detected the UPS.  I then noticed in the documentation the recommendation that I uninstall any other UPS software.  Since I had manually installed PowerChute from APC, I uninstalled it and re-booted the WHS.

Now Grid Junction doesn't find the UPS, even after unplugging and re-plugging it.  Do I need PowerChute after all?

  • Sounds like you uninstalled the driver. Check what it says under Device Manager and see if you can revert back to the original driver?

  • No Grid Junction does work with all APC USB models not just the Smart-UPS models. However, installing the Power Chute software overrides certain key files and replaces some driver files. In some cases you can manually install the correct drivers and in others only a system restore will help.

See if the HID UPS Battery driver will help?

Sorry that you are having trouble, we do advise against installing the factory supplied software. However APC PowerChute 2.2+ is now Windows Home Server compatible and should work fine too. If you inadvertently installed a prior version of APC PowerChute on your WHS you could be having all sorts of issues with Grid Junction (if you do manage to get it back working) and even with the native built-in power management.
