  • It saw the APC unit once and that was it.

The APC utility is running and it sees it so not sure why Grid Junction does not anymore.

  • What version of WHS are you using? What is your UPS make and model? Do you have the APC software installed? If so uninstall it.

  • It is the OEM version for building your own system. I have run all the Windows updtae

    It is an APC 1200

Yes the software was installed. I will try uninstalling it.

As I said the software did work when I first installed it and then it stopped.

    Thanks for the reply

  • Yes the APC 1200 should work fine - please keep us posted, removing any other power management software should do the trick.

  • I'm experiencing exactly the same thing with an APC Smart UPS 750.  Have never had APC software installed.  Can plug in the UPS and all fine within WHS for a while.  Then after a day or two, perhaps more (never quite pinned down when it happens) GJ loses the UPS.  If I go back to the server and simply unplug, then replace the USB, then all is back to normal Sad

  • yep same here

APC Smart UPS 750 works ok then bang nothing detected

    Swapped usb cable same problem

    Swapped ups same Issue

  • Just acknowledging...
Rest assured the APC 750 works well; I suspect there to be some other variable/issue and we will shortly be releasing a diagnostics tool geared to vacuum system configuration and settings in an effort to help trouble shoot the issue.

    Thanks

  • Just worth adding a few extra details.  I'm using an Acer Altos server, with a Smart-UPS 750 FW:651.13.I USB FW:7.3

  • I am using a home made whs server with nvidia 680sli mb with a Smart-UPS 750 FW:651.13.I USB FW:7.3

  • What other WHS add-ins do you have installed? And do you use any other power management software/settings that could put your USB into power saving mode?

  • i am using whs for mymovies and thats it with gridjunction

  • For anyone that is having this problem- when you next notice this; rather than ejecting and reconnecting the USB cable please do this:

Take a screenshot of what Grid Junction looks like in the WHS console

Take a screenshot of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GridJunction (on your WHS) in such a way that the value fields on the right are clearly visible.

We will have a tool out in a day or two to help further diagnose system issues and areas of interest.

  • did you start a time bomb

    been working fine then pop

  • regedit details

  • Thanks for posting these; note that I have edited your screenshots removing your personal stuff such as email account etc.
Rest assured there is no time bomb - although it does say expires April 29th; our original plan was to have the next version ready by then but it is taking a little while longer and we are exploring this so if there is a problem we can address it.

Based what I am seeing my hunch is that something is going wrong with your USB stack - perhaps it's going to sleep or something changed? I know the 750 well because I have one of these too.

We hope to have the tool ready by tomorrow, meanwhile if you can give us more info it would all help.

How long has it been working fine? What is your system uptime?
