Alexander Kent: If you suspect your UPS not to be supported; please first look at the troubleshooting help and verify that you have no other power management software installed and that you are using the correct signaling cable.
Hi Alexander.
I tried last GridJunction version 1.3.0 RC1 but my UPS seems not to be recognised/supported.
It is a mustek poweroffice 650, connected via usb and it uses the Megatec/Centralion protocol to communicate.
Protocol information : http://www.networkupstools.org/protocols/megatec.html
I found a small software ( http://www.hexy.name/UPSAssistant.html ) that works with my ups but I really wold like to use GridJunction.
Luca.
Hi Luca,
Thank you for posting.I cannot give any eta but rest assured it's on the TODO list.
Please note that "Belkin >= 700VA" is merely a generalization, due to the many different technologies and signal interface implementations it is impossible to manually define, instead we focus on the main-stream and industry leading technologies. In a perfect world we would like to support them all, the entire spectrum of UPS device vendors but for some it is really not worth the effort. On a brighter side we even have a Grid Junction RS232 serial UPS driver in the works so this is an area we do seek to improve further.
Some BelkinUPSes use the megatec/centralion protocol discussed above ;-)
I just purchased a CyberPower PP1500T (sine wave) UPS and it is not being recognized. I followed all the recommendations in the troubleshooting guide but I found no "HID UPS Battery" driver. I then installed the software that came with the UPS and it works but I would really like the improved functionality that the Grid Junction provides.
Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I have an HP Mediasmart Server with 2GB of G.SKILL memory. I'm still debating on a processor upgrade.
Alexander, will this add-in ever be compatible with Powerware UPS's? Have a 5110 and it doesn't show up at all in the WHS GridJunction console. Would really like to use it. Thanks.
Hi Paul,
I am afraid I don't have a solid answer for you. That is to say that we are sitting on a couple more devices and protocols to analyze (Belkin/CPS/Megatec) even got RS232 interface stuff on the table-- some we will implement, others we will likely have to push to the backburner. Unfortunately there are no Powerware UPS's available in my neck of the woods. Many months ago, someone was kind enough to submit their Powerware driver and protocol data but if I remember correctly the DLL file was garbled and not enough data overall-- by any chance was that you? How do you have it connected? USB or serial RS232?
Hi mate,
No it wasn't me, I only just purchased one a few weeks ago then found that GridJunction didn't support it, DOH!!! Anyway I use USB to connect it, using the driver found here: powerquality.eaton.com/.../UPSDriver_227.exe .
How can I help you then, what do I need to send or capture so you can test with? Would be great to be able to use this UPS's correctly as they are very popular in Australia where I live. Let me know please.
Cheers
Paul
First, I cannot make any promises and don't want to get your hopes-up but I was planning on squeezing further Grid Junction development in this week. Now I took a look at your supplied link, uniextracted the bits and it doesn't look that bad... however, I can only get to emulate up to the WinDriver..
How did you install it? Did you connect to your WHS and pointed it to the extracted PowerwareUPSDriver directory? Or did you run the contained exe file?
Could you please take a screenshot of your WHS Device Manager to show what it says under battery device and the USB tree (exapanded).
Awesome, thanks for having a play with this. And yes that is OK if you can't get it to work, just very glad that you will have a look.
I will look at device manager when I get home this evening (it's 8am here now) and send you the screenshots. I can tell you now I just extracted the exe and pointed the found new hardware wizard on Home Server to that folder and it installed the driver. Anyway will get back to you tonight with more info.
Hi Alexander,
Here is the info from device manager you requested, let me know if you need anymore than that?
Thanks Paul. Could you please drop me an email, that way I can quickly respond with some test code for you to run when you get the chance.
I have the same UPS and would be happy to test the code/driver/release for you.
