Since 1.0.8 is already out in Beta, it is probably a little late to submit a feature request but since there isn't a feature request thread for 1.0.9, I'll throw my 2 cents in here.

Allow optional configuration of the pop-up window position. - Reason: Just about everything wants to pop up in the lower right-hand corner and this causes conflicts with other apps that have decided to pop-up a notification immediately before or after a call. There is, of course, the "Display Topmost" option but sometimes, things would just be better if the window could appear somewhere else.
Provide an option to specify the pop-up display time or one to permit manual rather than automatic dismissal. - Reason: I share a home office with my wife & if I'm out of the room momentarily when the phone rings, I have no idea as to whom has called.
Provide an option that will change the icon in the system tray once a call has been received. - Reason: Sometimes, I'm out of the office/house when calls come in and return to find that my wife has cleared the answering machine and has subsequently gone out herself. Having a modified icon would alert me to the fact that calls have come in. This feature would also permit the user to rest the icon back to its " no calls" state.
Allow the user to delete selected calls rather than the entire history. - Reason: I know that this was suggested earlier but it's a damn good idea.

It would be nice to have an option in the Call History window to click on a phone# and ADD a name to an integrated database of names that we user's can customize, instead of or as another option to Outlook sync, which doesn't seem to work for me. Also the ability to export the log to Excel or a csv file.

Maybe to fix other user's comments about having to put a 1- in front of a phone #, that somehow you design the Outlook sync to only look at the right 10 digits of a phone#, thus it wouldn't matter if there were a 1- in the front or not, so long as there was an Area Code entered.

Ditto to making it a Service, so it logs calls when no one is logged on, or wakes the computer if it is sleeping to log the calls.

Most of my calls log two entries. That is rather annoying.

Hi,

Would be great if the app can talk to my FritzBox modem directly, so I don't need a modem and cables etc. I configured a SIP telephony account on my FritzBox.

It would be great if VistaCaller ID has some email notification functionality. , ie automated email upon incoming calls.

If not possible, then at lest the ability to mail out the history file at regular intervals,

one more: should be a way to dismiss (cancel, shut up) the notification. maybe there is now, but i haven't found it. esc key is kinda standard for that. clicking the notifcation window would make sense. or similar.

love the idea of this software! didn't get it working before, but trying again now. actually, i'm stuck already. it doesn't seem to pick up caller id from calls arriving on my land line (plugged into computer modem) nor from cell (bluetooth connected, looks like modem on com6). don't know what to try next. the phone/modem cpl query button works fine, modem answers appropriately for both com3 and com6. now some requests:

you have an option to return either the outlook name/info or the telephone company name. how about both? both useful to me. a link to open the outlook info for that person, perhaps?

is it supposed to work for bluetooth? it's just another com port, so i would think so? it does list my bt modem, green, status ok. but it doesn't seem to catch the incoming calls. if it did, would it keep separate logs for the two numbers? or at least show which number/modem the call arrived on?

the top scrolling part of your app window includes 4 red exclamation pt items:
   ras pppoe line0000
   ras vpn line0
   wan miniport (l2tp)
   sstp
can i tell it to hide or ignore those? it leaves my laptop modem on top of the list and my bt modem on the bottom, so can't see the two relevant lines. sort by active ones? to sort by any column and remember sort might be a better general feature. i notice ignore is greyed out on these red lines...so it's disabled just where i want to use it. :(

i'll second the motion to provide log export to spreadsheets (csv would work or other interchange formats). and i second the motion to run it as a server that can be started automatically at startup or later manually.

my understanding (guess!) is that the outlook "synchronization" is really just a one-time read of outlook data into your own db, repeated whenever i click configure, sync. i like that better than doing a plug-in for outlook, because my past experience has been that plugins confuse outlook, cause data corruption, don't work well.

I don't know if this is an issue or not, but I never have used this since it want work on my computer right now, but my old caller id program, it saved the calls to the log, but you could delete part of the log and keep the recent calls. You either had the log, or you didn't. Just wondering if you could make this an option if it isn't already by being able to delete older calls from the log but not all of them.

I would like to see it be able to broadcast to other pc's that cant get the phone cable, like YAC. This way, I can connect to my desktop, and view the calls from my laptop.

Welcome :)

There are some Snom VoIP reported as working; personally have not yet been able to dig further into it but I know that Snom does support the open SIP protocol and they have an TAPI Service Provider (TSP) for SIP.

After 1.0.8 we would like to embrace these areas more -please share mot info. provider? -some of these are proprietary.

Hi, new on this site.

I'm looking for a caller-id application that I can use with my SIP account. Your application looks really cool and seem to work on WHS and Vista Media Center. Just what I'm looking for but no support for SIP if I understand it correctly.

Any chance that you will add SIP support in the near future?

Thank you everyone- some really good feedback here and I must say that all of these suggestions and request seem reasonable and some quite exciting =)

Looking forward it is important to have the fundamentals right, hence we spend a lot of time going back to basics, telephony device and service provider programming & voice support - (perhaps such things as answer button/voicemail etc) and 64-bit support. There is no doubt! anyone looking at new PC's at retailers these days will concur that say ~90% are running Vista 64bit. Unfortunately the current Vista Caller-ID code-base(originally from 2006)made moving to 64-bit very difficult and cumbersome, coupled with our plans to move into a service framework to make network centric support and Windows Home Server support a reality; a complete Vista Caller-ID telephony engine overhaul is underway.

However, given that the last Vista Caller-ID release was in April of 2008 and that some of these request can be catered relatively quickly we opted to be releasing Vista Caller-ID 1.0.8 this weekend. This will be the last version using the current generation telephony code-base before moving to a service provider model.

Our current plans and goals for 1.0.8 are:

Calendar date sorting
Various bug fixes
XP legacy support improvements
Call log exporting
Better synchronization
64-bit support (not native)
New reverse lookup feature

If you feel that there is room for any last minute additions, suggestions or something you really really need in 1.0.8 please let us know ASAP.

Sounds like a quick fix - we could try and get this implemented in Vista Caller-ID 1.0.8 this weekend. Please let me have more information, you are using Vonage with Vista Caller-ID 1.07 and you need the outlook sync to drop the 1 prefix???

I am useing vista caller id w/ ms outlook syschonization this program works fine at my house which uses a cable modem, but when i use it at my my work which is a vonage modem it dos not work.. to make it sort. when a person calls at
home the id: 212-555-5555 at
work the id: 1-212-555-5555 which the outlook dos not work but when i change one of the contack w/ 1-212-555-4534 it dispaly as before.. so my ? is there a easy way to do this in stead of doing a contact one by one even if i put 1- on all my contacks it masses up my hole invontrey.. hope someone can help me
