CONFIGURE BELKIN G+ MIMO ROUTER FOR WINDOWS HOME SERVER REMOTE ACCESS

The Belkin G+ MIMO Wireless Router (Part # F5D9231-4) supports the Windows Home Server automatic router configuration over UPnP standards. However, for best results we recommend to manually configure Port Forwarding to your Windows Home Server.

OVERVIEW

  1. Log on to your router’s setup page
  2. Enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)
  3. Assign a static IP address to your Windows Home Server
  4. Configure Port Forwarding to your Windows Home Server

STEP 1 - Log on to your router’s setup page

Open your web browser and enter your router’s URL
http://192.168.2.1 is the default Belkin router IP address.

STEP 2 - Enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)

Click on "Utilities" and Enable the UPnP option under the “UPNP Enabling” section and click the "Apply Changes" button.

STEP 3 - Assign a static IP address to your Windows Home Server

The Belkin G+ MIMO Wireless Router (Part # F5D9231-4) does not support DHCP address reservation. You must configure your Windows Home Server to use a static IP address before proceeding to the next step.

STEP 4 - Configure port forwarding to your Windows Home Server

a) Click on "Firewall" and proceed to the "Virtual Servers" section.

b) You need to enable forwarding for 3 different ports: HTTP (80) , HTTPS (443) , RWW (4125).  Each of these will need its own row on the table.  For all of these, the "Private IP Address" should be the static IP address you gave to the Windows Home Server in step 3.

  • Enable HTTP forwarding:
     Enable: Yes
     Description: HTTP
     Inbound port: 80
     Type: TCP
     Private IP Address: 192.168.2.10
     Private port: 80
  • Configure HTTPS forwarding:
     Enable: Yes
     Description: HTTPS
     Inbound port: 443
     Type: TCP
     Private IP Address: 192.168.2.10
     Private port: 443
  • Configure RWW forwarding:
    Enable: Yes
    Description: RWW
    Inbound port: 4125
    Type: TCP
     Private IP Address: 192.168.2.10
     Private port: 4125

c) Click the "Apply Changes" button.

All done! After you configured your Belkin G+ MIMO Wireless Router (Part # F5D9231-4) for Remote Access you should test the remote connectivity from within your home and from outside of your home.
